IMPORTANT CLASS INFORMATION

Pew’s Policies – Team 6A Social Studies

My class is run in a very interactive manner. Students will complete

numerous activities, simulations, in-class projects, and notebook
pages
on a constant basis.

*
Organization is essential for success in my class.*

Grading:  Your child’s grade is comprised of the four following categories and weights.
•        Notebook = 30%
•        Tests = 30%
•        Projects = 30%
•        Class preparation and participation = 10%

Simulations and Activities:  I have a firm belief that in order for students to truly
understand history they must experience it for themselves!  My classes participate in
numerous simulations where we investigate and act out historical events. Other
activities and in-class projects are also conducted for students to get their hands on
history.  Please be advised that inappropriate behavior, lack of respect for classmates,
or mistreatment of supplies will result in students being removed from these events
and given an alternate assignment.

ALL PROJECTS ARE IN-CLASS ASSIGNMENTS.

Materials:  Due to the fact that we complete multiple projects per quarter as well as
activities, classroom supplies must be treated with respect.  Donations are welcome
and encouraged!  Failure to treat the supplies with respect will result in students
being removed from activities and simulations.  Materials used are: markers, Elmer’s
liquid glue, cardstock, construction paper, scissors, tape, rulers, string, manila and
colored folders, etc. If you are able to donate any of the listed supplies, it would be
MUCH appreciated!

Class preparation and participation: It is the responsibility of every student to
arrive on time and be prepared.  One point will be deducted from your child’s class
preparation and participation grade each time they are late without a pass or
unprepared.  Infractions include but are not limited to: arriving late without a pass,
no notebook, no pen/pencil, etc.  I will allow students to go to their lockers to get
these materials, but there will be the one point deduction each time this happens.

Homework: Homework will be assigned as needed depending on activities in class.
EVERY NIGHT your child should have notebook pages from the day COMPLETED and
ATTACHED.  Please email me for any readings or worksheets you need, and I will send
them to you within a few hours unless I am unavailable.  You can see which notebook
pages should be attached at www.misspew.com

www.misspew.com: my website will be updated every Sunday (unless I am traveling or
something technical is wrong with my computer) with a plan for the week including what
notebook pages we will complete and what we will be learning.  Please check the website
weekly to make sure your child is up to date with assignments.  Test dates and review
lists are also available on the site.
