IMPORTANT CLASS INFORMATION

Pew’s Policies – Team 6A Social Studies

My class is run in a very interactive manner. Students will complete numerous
activities, simulations, in-class projects, and worksheets on a constant basis.
Organization is essential for success in my class.

Notebook:  Each student is responsible for completing and maintaining his or her
notebook from September through June. This notebook is the “textbook” for my
class. All worksheets that are completed in class are labeled with a page number in
the top right hand corner.  It is the student's responsibility to attach these pages to
the corresponding numbered page in his or her notebook.  Tests and projects are
completed via these completed pages.  Please make sure that pages are attached
every night.  Students are given materials (staplers, tape, and glue) and time at the
end of every class to attach the pages from that day.  Notebooks are graded
multiple times each quarter and count as 30% of each report card grade.  Failure to
maintain a neat, completed, and organized notebook can result in failure of my
class!
RECOMMENDED NOTEBOOK: ONE SUBJECT FIVE STAR
SPIRAL NOTEBOOK. (NO MARBLE COMPOSITION BOOKS)
If you are
unable to provide the recommended notebook, please ensure that the notebook has
100 pages and a page size of 8.5 X 11 inches.

Materials:  Due to the fact that we complete multiple projects per quarter as well
as activities, classroom supplies must be treated with respect.
Donations are
welcome and encouraged!
Failure to treat the supplies with respect will result in
students not being able to participate in simulations.  Materials used are: markers,
glue, staplers and staples, cardstock, scissors, tape, tape dispensers, rulers, string,
manila and colored folders, etc.
If you are able to donate any of the listed
supplies, it would be MUCH appreciated!

Simulations and Activities:  I have a firm belief that in order for students to truly
understand history they must experience it for themselves!  My classes participate
in numerous simulations where we investigate and act out historical events. Other
activities and in-class projects are also conducted for students to get their hands on
history.  Please be advised that inappropriate behavior, lack of respect for
classmates, or mistreatment of supplies will result in students being removed from
these events and given an alternate assignment.

ALL PROJECTS ARE IN-CLASS ASSIGNMENTS.

Homework: The only homework my students have is current events due the last
time we meet every week.  If a student does not complete worksheets or does not
attach them, then he or she must complete the task for homework that evening.
