Current Events is a continuously required homework assignment for
Social Studies. A current event is due every week unless we are on
vacation or a special situation arises.
Periods 2, 5/6, R - Due Fridays
Period 8 - Due Thursdays
Directions for Current Events
A current event consists of a news "article" accompanied by
a one paragraph summary or the 5W's. If you choose to do
the 5W's, each "W" must be a full sentence. Paragraphs must
be at least 5 sentences.
From a Newspaper/Magazine - You MUST cut out the
article and attach it to your summary or 5W's.
From the Internet - Your article MUST be printed and
attached to your summary or 5W's.
From Radio/TV - You must write the source of your news
story on your summary or 5W's. Examples: "I saw this on
CNN".....or....."I heard this on 1010 Wins".....or.....
"I saw this on NBC News..."
BE SURE TO WRITE YOUR NAME ON IT!!!
Handing in via email: You have the option of emailing me
your homework! If you do, you must write your summary
or 5W’s in the body of the email, and put a LINK to the
article (the article must be on the internet and NOT handed
in separately). Be sure to also include your name in the
email.
